Arcona Triad Pads-Best Post Workout Skin Refresher

I had been struggling with a little adult acne lately and realized that I was rushing from my sweaty kickboxing workouts to appointments and meetings at least twice a week while only relying on baby wipes to remove the dirt and bacteria from my face. So when I recently visited the ARCONA counter at Nordstrom to pick up some more skin care, one of the representatives suggested I try these after my workouts when I am in a rush and cannot wash my face. If you have not heard of ARCONA Skincare, you MUST try it sometime. I have found the perfect skincare for me and will blog about my current skincare regimen soon. A little of ARCONA's philosophy is that "color, fragrance and consistency don’t change your skin—live, active ingredients do.” They also believe that "whatever you put on your skin goes into your body and they use only the finest quality, pure and powerful ingredients in products that penetrate deep into the cellular layers of the skin to effect real change, resulting in glowing, healthy skin." These ARCONA Triad Pads cleanse, tone and hydrate the skin while removing traces of sweat and other toxins. They are perfect for travel and I keep them in my gym bag. The smell is great and I notice my skin looks clear and vibrant after I use these and it still feels hydrated so I can apply some tinted moisturizer to make myself look presentable. The pads come in a jar of 45 for $32 but well worth it since I am only using them two or three times a week. These pads have definitely become a staple in my gym bag to help knock out that acne.

I am so happy I got Chubby (Clinique's Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes)

I have never been so happy to get chubby. I thought I would NEVER hear myself say that.  It has been a while since I visited the Clinique counter and I stumbled upon their new Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes. After swiping a few testers on my hand, I fell in love with the color "Fuller Fudge". I took this gem home with me and am very happy with it. It is a gorgeous bronze/fudge color with a little shimmer that glides on smooth and stays on all day. I use an eyeshadow primer first since I have oily eyelids, then swipe the chubby stick on my entire eye lid, then blend the color evenly using my MAC 217 blending brush. The chubby stick would also be great for travel since there is no need for sharpening since all you do is twist more color when needed. I paid $17 for it and think it is a great value since there is a lot of product and a little goes a long way depending on how intense you want your eye look. This chubby stick will be my go to color for Fall since it so simple and lasts all day without creasing. Can't wait to try more of their 12 colors.

Best Leave in Conditioner for Ombre Hair

So I have been rocking my ombre hair for almost a year now and even though I love it, it does take some extra care to keep my hair healthy while having this "oh so trendy" hair color (or shall  I say colors). With the summer heat, going to the beach and my super sweaty kickboxing workouts, my hair really started to look dull and started to feel dry and frizzy. Just when I was starting to cave and go back to a solid dark hair color, I remembered this amazing product that changes your hair instantly called "It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Spray". Why is it called It's a 10? It is a repairative leave in hair conditioner that delivers the following ten benefits: Repairs, Adds Shine, Tames Frizz, Protects Color, Detangles, Prevents Split Ends, Curbs Breakage, Softens, Boosts Body and Protects Hair From Heat. To use, just spray  it  into damp hair after shampoo and conditioner, comb through and style. After the first use, my hair went from straw to silk. I was amazed. The frizz was tamed and I had a nice volume and shine to my hair. It is a bit pricey but it does last a long time and I even use it on my 4 year old's very curly hair and it works wonders for her tangles. This product also claims to promote hair growth (but I haven't used it long enough to review see any hair growth). I think this product is a must have if you have color-treated hair or struggle with dryness and frizz. It has made me believe in miracles again.

Best All Natural Sunscreen

With the hot summer days still among us and my quest to find the best sunscreen, I had to share the product that I am currently very happy with. Being at the beach almost weekly, I have become so tired of applying sunscreen to myself and my daughter time after time with the same horrible odors and greasy or difficult to apply textures. I made a trip to the health food store and picked up a tube of Alba Botanica's Very Emollient Sunscreen in "Pure Lavendar" SPF 45. I was intrigued by the smell in the store and rubbed a bit on my hand so I figured it should be put to the test. I started using it on my daughter for preschool and I love how easy it blends and the smell is oh so lovely and it soaks in nicely. I have also noticed that my daughter's rough skin (keratosis pilaris) has softened which has been an added bonus. I try to put nothing but pure products on myself and my daughter's skin and this sunscreen contains Green Tea, Grape Seed Oil, Vitamin E, Aloe, Lavendar (for the scent of course) and chamomile which makes me very happy. This product is great and comes in several different varieties, including fragrance free if you aren't into scent as I am. My only complaint is that I wish it came in a larger tube. For a 4oz tube, it costs around $10. But the size is very handy to keep in your purse or gym bag. I can't wait to explore Alba Botanica's other products. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend and don't forget the sunscreen!

Treat Myself Friday (Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Revival Mud)

As I was rushing around today running errands and had to swing into Sephora for some lip glosses, I remembered that I needed to grab a face mask but didn't want to spend a fortune. So as I was browsing the various brands, I stumbled upon this gem by Sarah McNamara's  Miracle Skin Transformer line called the "Miracle Revival Mud Skin Restoring Treatment Mask". This mask also has an attractive price of $38. Of course being a skincare and makeup junkie, I rushed home to try it. It is a true mud mask in the sense that when you apply it it is thick and earthy and then dries up on the skin in a lovely earthy-green color. I felt a slight tingling sensation initially which then subsided by the 15 minute mark. After removing the mask, my skin felt clean, brighter, lighter and even a bit tighter. The mask states that it should invigorate, hydrate and detoxify. This is my first use but so far I am impressed. This mask reminded me of "Fango Mud" from Borghese if anyone of you are old enough to know what I am talking about? Overall,  I think for the price this is a great product and can't wait to try other products from the line. I also treated myself to the lovely lilies to add to my spa experience. I wish I could share their amazing scent!

All Natural Homemade Anti-Aging Face Mask

In my attempt to save money and use natural products on my face, I have been experimenting with various homemade masks and have been very happy with the results of this Anti-Aging face mask. I can't say that my skin is wrinkle free, but it does look firmer, softer and has a nice glow to it. Dr. Oz has called this an alternative to Botox so I had to try it. So why honey, yogurt and banana? Well, yogurt contains lactic acid which is a natural alpha hydroxy acid which helps to smooth and exfoliate the skin. This is why Greek yogurt is best since it is thick and has more active cultures. Honey has been shown to have natural antioxidant and anti-microbial properties that help protect the skin leave it soft and supple. Finally, bananas are nutrient-rich and help to moisturize and nourish the skin among several other benefits. So together, all of these natural ingredients make for a very good mask for your skin. If your skin looks dull and tired, give it a try. Overall, I think this has made my skin look fresh and young.

All Natural Homemade Anti-Aging Face Mask

1/2 cup yogurt (Greek is best)
1/2 ripe banana mashed
1tsp honey

Whisk all ingredients together until smooth and apply to clean freshly cleaned skin. Leave on for 20 minutes. For better results, apply a warm washcloth to the face to help the mask penetrate the skin. I do this mask twice a week and the mask keeps well in the fridge for a few days in a sealed container.
Here is how I made it:
Here is what you will need to make your Anti-aging Mask: A bowl, honey, plain yogurt (Greek is best),  half a ripe banana and a basting brush or face mask brush. Fingers work fine too.

Add honey and yogurt and mix well.

Mash the ripe banana in a bowl with a fork until  smooth. Less chunks makes it easier to apply and keep on the face.

Here is the finished mask.
Now you can apply  it to your face (avoiding eyes and mouth of course) and relax and if you get hungry, it  is okay to eat too!
Let me know how you liked this mask or if you have tried any similar ones that work better.
