In my attempt to save money and use natural products on my face, I have been experimenting with various homemade masks and have been very happy with the results of this Anti-Aging face mask. I can't say that my skin is wrinkle free, but it does look firmer, softer and has a nice glow to it. Dr. Oz has called this an alternative to Botox so I had to try it. So why honey, yogurt and banana? Well, yogurt contains lactic acid which is a natural alpha hydroxy acid which helps to smooth and exfoliate the skin. This is why Greek yogurt is best since it is thick and has more active cultures. Honey has been shown to have natural antioxidant and anti-microbial properties that help protect the skin leave it soft and supple. Finally, bananas are nutrient-rich and help to moisturize and nourish the skin among several other benefits. So together, all of these natural ingredients make for a very good mask for your skin. If your skin looks dull and tired, give it a try. Overall, I think this has made my skin look fresh and young.
All Natural Homemade Anti-Aging Face Mask
1/2 cup yogurt (Greek is best)
1/2 ripe banana mashed
Whisk all ingredients together until smooth and apply to clean freshly cleaned skin. Leave on for 20 minutes. For better results, apply a warm washcloth to the face to help the mask penetrate the skin. I do this mask twice a week and the mask keeps well in the fridge for a few days in a sealed container.
Here is how I made it:
|Here is what you will need to make your Anti-aging Mask: A bowl, honey, plain yogurt (Greek is best), half a ripe banana and a basting brush or face mask brush. Fingers work fine too.|
|Add honey and yogurt and mix well.|
|Mash the ripe banana in a bowl with a fork until smooth. Less chunks makes it easier to apply and keep on the face.|
|Here is the finished mask.|
|Now you can apply it to your face (avoiding eyes and mouth of course) and relax and if you get hungry, it is okay to eat too!|
